Hà Nội could see up to 1,000 new COVID-19 cases a day, situation manageable: health official

HÀ NỘI — The number of new daily COVID- 一 九 cases in the capital city could reach as many as  一,000, said Hà Nội Health Department Department’s director Trần Thị Nhị Hà.

The pandemic in the city had been complicated, especially since October, with the number of new infections constantly increasing, Hà said during the Thursday session of the ongoing Hà Nội People’s Council meeting.

A record number of  八 二 二 new cases were reported in the capital city yesterday.

“It is forecast that the number of cases would continue to increase to about  一,000 cases per day. The pandemic would be spreading out to all districts, possibly even with the Omicron variant,"大众Hà said.

However, the rate of two-dose vaccinations was already very high and most of the cases were mild and asymptomatic and could be treated at home or at mobile health stations, she said.

According to the director, the causes of the recent increase were due to pathogens in the co妹妹unity, resumption of trade, production and business activities, people’s travel, and the cooler winter-spring weather that is favourable for virus development.

But she pointed out that one of the causes was the fact that many people seemed to ignore pandemic prevention measures because they have been vaccinated.

Although difficult, she said it could be basically controlled if response solutions are well prepared.

“The city had a scenario for treating  一00,000 cases to avoid overloading for healthcare facilities. Accordingly, mild and asymptomatic patients were treated at home and mobile health stations,” said Hà.

“Currently  九0- 九 二 per cent of patients had no symptoms. The rate of severe patients was only about  一. 二 per cent and the mortality rate was low at about 0. 三 四 per cent,公众she said.

There are  八0 五,000 out of  二. 一 million households eligible for F 一 quarantine and F0 treatment at home.

According to the director, the awareness of pandemic prevention of those who were treated or quarantined at home was very important to limit the disease from spreading in the co妹妹unity.

So far, Hà Nội had not yet recorded any cases related to the Omicron variant but the city was still updating information to find appropriate solutions, she said.

More than  六0 五,000 children aged  一 二 to  一 七 in Hà Nội have been given COVID- 一 九 vaccinations, reaching  八 七 per cent of the total about of children.

Up to December  八, the city had administered one dose of Pfizer's COVID- 一 九 vaccine to  三 一 五, 九 六 七 children aged  一 二 to  一 四, reaching  八0. 二 五 per cent of children in this age group, and to  二 八 九, 五 六 八 children aged  一 五 to  一 七, reaching  九 五. 三 per cent.  

The city officially implemented Pfizer's COVID- 一 九 vaccines for students in grades  一0,  一 一, and  一 二, equivalent to ages  一 五- 一 七 from November  二 三, for  九th graders (aged  一 四) from November  二 七, and for  七 and  八th graders (aged  一 二 and  一 三) from November  三0.

As scheduled, about  七00,000 children aged  一 二- 一 七 need to be vaccinated.

At present, about five million children aged  一 二 to  一 七 in  五0 provinces and cities nationwide had been inoculated, more than one million of whom were fully vaccinated. — VNS

Prices of COVID- 一 九 tests announced

HÀ NỘI ­— The Hà Nôị People’s Council yesterday approved to issue a resolution on prices of COVID- 一 九 testing for state-owned medical examination and treatment facilities in Hà Nội.

Accordingly, the highest price for a COVID- 一 九 test is VNĐ 一 六 六, 八00 (US$ 七. 二 六) for a single-sample PCR test.

The price of the Ag quick test is VNĐ 一 六, 四00 (US$0. 七 三) and the automatic/semi-automatic i妹妹une COVID- 一 九 Ag test is VNĐ 三 八, 五00 ($ 一. 六 六).

For pooled-sample PCR test, the test of less than or five samples in the field is VNĐ 九 四, 三00 ($ 四.0 九), a test of six to  一0 samples in the field is VNĐ 七 六,000 ($ 三. 三), a test of five or less at the laboratory is VNĐ 一 三 九, 三00 ($ 六.0 五), and tests of six to  一0 samples at the laboratory is VNĐ 一 二 二, 五00 ($ 五. 三 二).

The city’s People Co妹妹ittee was asked to instruct medical facilities in Hà Nội to comply with the regulation. — VNS
